A Memorial to the Coal Miners that Worked the
Banning No. 3 Mine

Following is a partial list of the miners, mine employees and company store employees that worked the Darr Mine, and Banning No. 3 Mine, of Pittsburgh Coal Company, Van Meter, Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.   After  the 1907 disaster, the Darr Mine was reopened in ca.1910, an became another entry of the Banning No. 3 Mine, and the name Darr Mine was no longer used after the ca.1907 Darr Mine Disaster.

The miners names have been researched and complied from various sources by Raymond A. Washlaski, Historian: newspaper obits, newspaper accounts, Bureau of Mines Reports, township histories, names on the Darr Mine Relief Fund list, and names of miners submitted by various people.
The Nationalities listed for various miners, are taken directly from "Report of the Department of Mines of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, PA" as reported for the various years.  Those listed as American, could be either native born or naturalized citizens.  Most of the immigrate miners could not speak or write in English, so the spellings of their names could vary greatly, depending on who was writing the name down.
Can you add additional Coal Miner's names that worked at the Banning No. 3 Mine to this Coal Miners Memorial Honor Roll? e-mail "The Old Miner" Editor
