Map of Galicia - CLICK HERE FOR ENLARGED VIEW Galicia, was a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it was located in the Carpathian Mountain Region of Europe. It was a small country between Russia and Hungary at the turn of the 20th Century, ca.1900.

Galicia Region of the former Austro-Hungarian crownland to the north of the western Carpathians.  Its chief cities were Lvov, now in the Ukraine, and Krakow, now in Poland.
After two world wars and many name changes and divisions, Galicia enters the 21st century a land divided between the countries of Poland and the Ukraine.
