Following is a partial list of the miners, mine employees and company store employees that worked the Edna No. 1 Mine, Edna No. 1, Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland Co., PA.  The miners names have been complied from various sources by Raymond A. Washlaski, Historian: newspaper articles, newspaper obits, Pennsylvania Bureau of Mines Reports, township histories, and names of miners submitted by various people.
The Nationalities listed for various miners, are taken directly from "Report of the Department of Mines of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, PA" as reported for the various years.  Those listed as American, could be either native born or naturalized citizens.

(Prosecuted for Violations of the Mining Laws:  July, 1910 - Information was made against Andy Nijak and Reddy Brattich, employed at Edna No. 1 Mine of the Pittsburg & Baltimore Coal Company, charged with passing a danger signal at the permanent station at the entrance to said mine before it had been  examined by the fire bosses and reported safe.  The seam being a  mine wherein suffucuent gas was detected by ordinary safety lamp.  Defendants admitted to bail on their own recognizance, $50.00 August 29, 1910, plead guilty, and were sentenced to pay a fine of $5.00 each and  costs.  September 3, 1910, fine and cost, to wit, $43.98, were also paid.)

(Killed.  Fatally injured.  He and the pumper were in a mine car going into the mine to repair a pump.  The mine car was equipped with a brake, but when they stared from outside they lost control and the mine car was traveling so fast that they could not get out.  Down the slope about 2,800 feet from the mouth the mine car turned over and they were thrown out, in the Edna No. 1 Mine, June 29, 1910.)

(Prosecuted for Violations of the Mining Laws:  October, 1909, Paul Rubick and Mike Tuik used an open light in a safety lamp section of Edna No. 1 Mine, operated by the Pittsburg & Baltimore Coal Company.   They were arrested, plead guilty and were fined $10.00 and costs.)
