Washlaski, Historian: newspaper articles, newspaper obits, Pennsylvania Bureau of Mines Reports, township histories, and names of miners submitted by various people, etc..
The Nationalities listed for various miners, are taken directly from "Report of the Department of Mines of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, PA" as reported for the various years.  Those listed as American, could be either native born or naturalized citizens.

(Prosecuted for Violation of Mining Laws:  Suit was entered against against Frank Shomer and Joseph Bolobrush, miners employed at the Penn Gas No. 3 Mine of the Penn Gas Coal Company, charged with pasing a danger signal and entering with open lights a portion of the mine worked exclusively with locked safety lamps.  They were given a hearing October 26, and held for court.  Defendants entered a plea of guilty and were sentenced to pay a fine of ten dollars, each and the costs.)

(Prosecuted for Violation of the Mining Laws:  Suit was entered against William Callaghan, a fire-boss employed at the Penn Gas No. 3 Mine, of the Penn Gas Coal Company.  Charge, failure to examine and leave evidence of his presence in a large number of the working places in the section of the Penn Gas No.3 Mine, which he was employed to examine.  The defendant was held for court, and a true bill found on May 14.  He was found guilty as indicted and the court sentenced him, to pay a fine of ten dollars and the costs.  Withdrew his certiticate for three months.)

(Killed.  Fatally injured by fall of slate at the face of a room while knocking coal.  He had a post set about three feet from the upper rib and a piece of slate fall out betwen the post and rib.  A slip had liberated the slate, which could not beobserved until after it fell, in the Penn Gas No. 3 Mine, Oct. 22, 1907.  He died October 25, 1907.)

(Prosecuted for Violation of Mining Laws ca.1908:  Frank Lacenia and James Rober, miners employed at the Penn Gas No. 3 Mine, of the Penn Gas Coal Company, were arrested, charged with taking down and passing a danger signal.  Defendants were given a hearing February 29, 1908 and held for court.  On May 14, 1908 the grand jury found a true bill against them.  They pleaded guilty, and the court sentenced each to pay a fine of five dollars and the costs.)

Rober, James

(Prosecuted for Violation of Mining Laws ca.1908:  Frank Lacenia and James Rober, miners employed at the penn Gas No. 3 Mine, of the Penn Gas Coal Company, were arrested, charged with taking down and passing a danger signal.  Defendants were given a hearing February 29, 1908 and held for court.  On May 14, 1908 the grand jury found a true bill against them.  They pleaded guilty, and the court sentenced each to pay a fine of five dollars and the costs.)

(Prosecuted for Violation of Mining Laws:  Suit was entered against against Frank Shomer and Joseph Bolobrush, miners employed at the Penn Gas No. 3 Mine of the Penn Gas Coal Company, charged with pasing a danger signal and entering with open lights a portion of the mine worked exclusively with locked safety lamps.  They were given a hearing October 26, and held for court.  Defendants entered a plea of guilty and were sentenced to pay a fine of ten dollars, each and the costs.)
